Tell us a little bit about yourself?
After too many failed attempts at that “good job”, I finally started up on my web comic, then my novel series came around and finally I started my business Sailorfrill Studio, which is the name you will find me under when I travel to different anime, book or comic conventions.
Can you give us a brief description of your book?
The Longest knight is an erotic romantic fantasy illustrated novel about Princess Milena and the love she carries for the one and only Werewolf knight in her kingdom.
After three long years of war with the Borras Kingdom, Princess Milena is sent away in secret by her father to her grandparent’s house for her personal safety and she gets to bring none other than the wolf that holds her affections. With the road full of enemy soldiers, wild animals and the threat of being discovered, can the pair make the three day long ride there unharmed? Or will the dangers of war tear them apart before Milena ever has a chance to tell her knight her heart’s desire?
What is the most difficult part of your artistic process?
Thinking up story lines that can shock or surprise a reader. I (apparently) sometimes make certain details obvious when really I was trying to make it a surprise! Haha. Also, I will forget details to, so I try to write a note about it to myself but that can get hard if I’m in the middle of my day job.
What time of day do you usually write / create?
If I can get away with it, any time of day! Normally, when I try to actually make time it’s at night, right before bed. Writing does really well at winding me down for the day, so doing it a few hours before bed is perfect.
How did you come up with titles for your novels?
Aha…well I of course take into consideration what the story is about but half the time I just go with the first thing I think of. The title for my first novel ‘The Longest Knight’ was a (giggle worthy and intentionally dirty) placement holder name that I kept because I never came up with anything better! Everything I came up with after was worse!
Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?
Not quite! All the novels in my ‘Four Kingdoms Series’ are related but star different people. Anyone that reads all 5 in order will see main characters from other novels pop up as side characters and I always thought that was a great idea and by the last novel, felt nostalgic.
What is your favourite part of the novel?
My favorite part in ‘The Longest Knight’? Has to be the part where the princess and her knight are alone in the forest, right after the princess has confessed her feelings for him and he seems to reject her. She’s crying her eyes out and he couldn’t stand to see his princess like that, behind something he said no less! So, he drops his composure as a knight and rushes to her, bringing her into a tight embrace, hoping to calm her and clear up that misunderstanding.
Of all the characters you have created, which is your favourite and why?
Tough question…I guess the favorite is Lady Cecelia now! Her book became my accidental favorite, so she’s taking favorite character to. I guess I like her a lot because she’s adorable, kind, NOT standing around acting like she doesn’t have a sex drive and she’s a little plumper, so she stands out a little from most of my other characters.
Do you believe in writers / artistic block?
Oh yeah! I see it happen to other people…just not to me. Aha. I’ve never really had a hard time coming up with a story and when I did get close to it, the story still got done, just ended up shorter than I hoped!
Do you have any future projects that you would like to discuss?
The second book in ‘The Four Kingdoms Series’ titled ‘Beneath the Surface’ will be out soon, takes place 10 years after ‘The Longest Knight’ and will have mermaids.
And last, my webcomic is always free to read right now! Just search for Sempiternum comic and it comes right up. That story is about an alien with no memory that accidentally started a war with humans, began the “vampire” race, and made a very powerful madman almost immortal.
